The debate around carbon emissions and climate change is very much in the public domain, and most men and women are very aware of the relevant factors. Many people want to help fight the threat but have very little idea how to go about it. Thankfully, there are many relatively simple ways to lend a useful hand, without having to be a hero. Here are a number of ways in which you can do your bit.
1. Always use your laptop computer, not a desktop. Whatever they do nowadays, virtually all people probably use a computer a good deal. If you can use a laptop instead of a regular desktop computer then do so, as laptops are up to 50% more energy efficient than regular desktop PCs. There are also other advantages of working on laptops; they are portable, which means you can take them anywhere with you and work and they?re cheaper.
2. If it?s close enough, walk Vehicles and pollution are go together in my mind. Cars are big polluters because they burn fuel, causing toxic gases to be released into the atmosphere. The volume of gases from autos poisoning the air each day is huge, given the vast number of cars in use worldwide. To make less of an adverse impact on the environment, we should walk instead of drive. However, you can?t walk at all times but you should try to when you can. If you need to head to the local shops try walking rather than drive. Walking can clear up your head, great for your health as well as that of the planet, and save you a bit of money in the process.
3. Close the water while you brush your teeth We use water in almost everything we do, from cleaning to washing to keeping radiators warm so it?s no wonder so much of it is wasted each day. When cleaning your teeth make sure to keep the faucet off, otherwise you?ll be wasting a lot of water. Just thing: you should brush your teeth for two minutes and in two minutes a good deal of water is wasted. Instead put some water for rinsing your mouth in a glass in advance, thereby wasting less.
4. Try taking quick showers rather than bathing Have a shower instead of a bath, because it?s been proven to be more efficient in terms of both water and energy use. Nonetheless, this doesn?t hold true if your showers are 20 minutes long! If you are unable to make your shower brief, it might be more wasteful than having a bath.
5. Don?t leave lights on at all times Avoid leaving a light switched on in a vacant room. What?s the point of illuminating a room when there?s nobody in it? You will be able to save money, not waste energy and benefit the earth in this manner. When there?s sunlight outside, you should try to not use inside lights because the sunlight will provide plenty of light to your home.
These tips are really simple and won?t cost you anything to implement. Actually, they?ll most likely save you money. Go on then, don?t hold off ? the earth needs you!
