Community forums around the province this month will hear public opinion on gaming grants to community groups.
Premier Christy Clark recently announced the Community Gaming Grant Review, to look at how much money community groups should get and how the allocation process should work.
This followed Premier Campbell?s cuts to community gaming grants in 2009. The arts sector was hard hit.
Forums in the Kootenays
Castlegar: Monday August 15 at the Sandman Inn
Cranbrook: Thursday August 25 at the Prestige Rocky Mountain
Both sessions run from 8:30 to 12:30 and participants are advised to register because of limited seating.
Terms of Reference
- Review existing legislation governing community gaming grant funding
- Conduct public-oral consultations in up to 14 communities in BC
- Receive and review written and social media submissions
- Review and provide options for a funding formula
- Review and provide options for criteria/eligibility for community gaming grants
- Review and provide options for a multi-year funding model
- Review and provide options regarding the processes involved with applying for and receive community gaming grants and,
- Provide options for the future role of government in community gaming grants.
Ms. Clark has appointed Skip Triplett to head the review.?The former president of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Skip Triplett is now a partner in the governance consulting firm Triplett & Triplett.
