Newmont Mining 2Q earnings edge up (AP)
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. ? Newmont Mining Corp. said Friday that its second-quarter profit rose slightly as higher gold and copper prices were offset by increased costs and reduced production.
Its results missed Wall Street expectations, and its shares fell $1.61, or 2.8 percent, to $56.12 in midday trading.
The Greenwood Village, Colo., mining giant's net income totaled $387 million, or 77 cents a share, in the April-to-June quarter, compared with $382 million, or 77 cents a share, a year ago.
That included a $136 million loss related to an asset sale. Excluding one-time items, Newmont said it earned $445 million, or 90 cents a share.
Consolidated sales rose to $2.38 billion from $2.15 billion.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected higher earnings of $1.01 a share on higher sales of $2.5 billion.
Gold production fell 5.4 percent to 1.2 million ounces and copper production dropped 45 percent to 44 million pounds because lower quality of ore grades were processed at Newmont's Batu Hijau mine in Indonesia and its Nevada operations.
Newmont said it received an average price of $1,501 per ounce for gold compared with $1,200 an ounce in the second quarter of 2010. The average price for copper was $3.78 a pound, compared with $2.33 a pound.
The company reaffirmed its 2011 outlook of gold production in a range between 5.1 million ounces and 5.3 million ounces and copper production between 190 million pounds and 220 million pounds.

Make the Switch to Something New This Weekend [Weekendhacker]
You've long been a user of Mac/Facebook/Android/cocaine/etc. and you're ready for something new, but the whole process of switching seems like a lot of work. It can be but waiting around isn't going to make it easier. It's time to make the switch to whatever this weekend, and we're here to help.
Switching Your Desktop OS
With Windows being the dominant operating system, when you hear about switching the destination is usually Mac OS X. If you fall under that category, we've got you well-covered with a comprehensive guide to moving from Windows to Mac. You may also want to check out Switch to Mac, which will get you accustomed once you've arrived. If you find yourself missing Windows features, you can get many of them in Mac OS X pretty easily. If you miss Windows you can always dual or triple boot (if you want Linux, too) or run it as a virtual machine.
Of course, not everyone is moving to Mac. OS X can be frustrating for some, especially with the latest iOS-like quirks in Lion, and migrating to Windows isn't unheard of. (In fact, our own Whitson Gordon has stopped using Mac OS X primarily in favor of Windows?something I disagreed with until I started using Lion and built some awesome Hackintoshes.) All of that said, we don't have a guide and it doesn't seem like anyone else does either. Fortunately, there are guides to installing Windows 7 (like this one from BuildEasyPC.com) and plenty of ways to get your favorite OS X features on Windows once you've made the switch. If you just want Windows to look like OS X, you'll need the Snow Transormation Pack. If you're having trouble getting acclimated, be sure to read our complete guide to Windows 7.
So what about Linux? Not being the dominant operating system, there actually are switching guides. Additionally, we have a complete guide to getting started with Linux. Once you're good to go, you can make Linux look like OS X or perform some other beautiful customizations.
Regardless of which operating system you choose, you'll have no trouble finding software. That's because we have app packs for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Switching Your Smartphone OS
Smartphones: the computers of tomorrow. They're already so advanced that the grass is constantly greener on some other phone's wallpaper. We've got this one pretty much covered for the two frontrunners. If you're sick of iPhone, switch to Android. If you're sick of Android, switch to iPhone. Each operating system has its merits, so you might want to read up on how on the better features offered in Android and the ways iOS out Android.
But what if Android and iPhone aren't doing it for you? You've got a few options. Some people really love webOS, even though it isn't doing quite so well these days. We can't offer you a switching guide, but we can help you get acclimated to the new environment. If you're looking for webOS apps, try All WebOS Apps. You may also want to break down the barrier between webOS and your computer. If you're looking at Windows Phone 7, Microsoft will teach you all about it and we'll give you some app recommendations.
Switching Your Social Network
Facebook has dominated the social networking scene for some time now. Nobody's going back to MySpace or Friendster, but there are some new contenders on the horizon. Most recently we looked at moving from Facebook to Google+. Diaspora doesn't seem like it's really going anywhere, but it does make a very concentrated effort to protect your privacy. There really aren't many alternatives at the moment, but that doesn't mean you can't just quit Facebook altogether (if you really want out).
Got any great switching tips? Let's hear 'em in the comments.

How Automotive Service Training Can Get You In The Career Of Your ...
If you are one of the many who are pursuing a career in the exciting world of automotive technology, you should consider taking on some automotive service training. No matter if you are more interested in working on interiors or tearing apart motors, there is a place in this industry that is a good fit for you. All one has to do is get into a learning center that offers a devoted automotive service course, and it doesn?t take long to see that there are many fine choices available.
It wouldn?t do you much good to learn at just any institution, however, because accreditation is very important among most employers. Since not all schools are created equally, it is important to the companies in the automotive service field to hire employees who are graduating from learning centers that have the ability to teach you what you need to know and make you a good candidate for their company. One of the main certifications that most automotive companies want is one that goes through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, because this organization assesses each school and only offers their approval and accreditation to the ones they feel can turn you into a competent service technician.
Luckily, there are many great schools around the nation that come with the NATEF seal of approval, so you should find yourself a school easily enough and be able to focus on other educational preferences. Obviously, tuition and course hours are important things to look at when considering the level of education you are seeking and the school you want to attend. There are many institutes that offer specialized courses that focus on the exact curriculum you will need to get your certification, and these can be finished in as little as a year at most places.
No matter how you go about getting your education, you may be one of the many students who take interest in a special kind of auto service and want to learn more about that specific job. If you feel that you have covered that particular subject too briefly you may find courses available to further you education in that area. If there is ever anything you feel you weren?t able to cover as well as you wanted to, you should find plenty of time throughout your career to get some hands on experience.
Obtaining a decent education can be time consuming and oftentimes requires us to make a few sacrifices here and there, but the end result is almost always a rewarding career. If you are determined to become an automotive service technician, all you have to do is find a quality school to set you on the right path.
When you are ready to learn more about what these services can do for you then try to visit automotive service training or you can also look at service advisor.

Majorca Family Holidays ? Going Underground
???
Submitted 2011-07-27 20:37:42
the prehistoric atmosphere of an underground cavern, and Majorca family holidays are a great opportunity to experience some of the island?s natural and ancient caves and coves.
The Caves of Drach
Well known as being one of the main tourist attractions on Spain?s largest island, the Caves of Drach (Cuevas del Drach) or Dragon Caves can be found at Porto Cristo on the east coast of Majorca at around 65 kilometres from Palma, and are an absolute must to be taken in on Majorca family holidays. Extending for almost 2,400 metres, the caves reach 25 metres in height in places and are home to what is considered to be one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world. Lake Martel is 177 metres long and 230 metres wide and, after taking in a short 10 minute classical concert played by a quartet of musicians playing on a boat in this magnificent natural auditorium, visitors also get the chance to venture out on to the lake. The spectacular lighting gives, not just Lake Martel, but also the other parts of the caves a stunningly surreal look, and the spectacular stalagmites and stalactites which have formed over millions of years are simply breathtaking.
The Caves of the Fish Hooks
Also situated on the east side of the island close to Porto Cristo and known locally as the Cuevas dels Hams, the Caves of the Fish Hooks get their name from the helictites which can be found particularly in the chamber called Angels Dream. Similar to small stalactites, helictites are twisted and in some cases bent like corkscrews or fish hooks. Like the Caves of Drach, the Cuevas dels Hams is also home to an underground lake, this time called the Lake of Venice, in which lurk completely blind crustaceans, deprived of light in their underground abode. Because of the varying levels of copper oxides in the formations within the caves, they take on beautiful hues of blue and green and make for a stunning sight. Being so close to the Caves of Drach, visitors can take in both of these experiences in the same day during their Majorca family holidays.
The Caves of Arta
Just a few kilometres north of the Caves of Drach and the Caves of Fish Hooks can be found the Cuevas de Arta, the other most famous of the caves on Majorca. Sitting roughly 50 metres above the sea at Cap Vermell, the caves are home to chambers with names such as Paradise, Purgatory and Hell, as well as to the impressive 22 metre high stalagmite named Reina de las Columnas or Queen of the Columns. As you look around, just bear in mind that the stalagmites are said to grow by just a few millimetres every one hundred years and imagine how long these fine examples have taken to form. Also, put yourself in the place of the hermits, smugglers and pirates who used the caves years ago to really get an authentic feel of old Majorca. Family holidays were never so good!

Video-conferencing to save your marriage | Business Traveller
Do we still need to travel so much now that high-definition audio-visual technology is becoming ever more ubiquitous?
?Face to face meetings will always be a part of our lives; but they?re not required for everyday regular meetings.?
Daniel Weisbeck, who heads up EMEA marketing for telepresence-system purveyors Polycom was trying to persuade me that high-definition video technology, becoming ever more prevalent, means the bulk of business travel is unnecessary.
Weisbeck?s firm commissioned a survey to add further credence to the claim. Four hundred senior business-travelling executives across Europe, at companies with more than 1,000 employees, were interviewed by a third party. Key findings were as follows:
- Half of all short-haul domestic business flights taken by executives were for regular meetings.
- A third say that many meetings they attend could be conducted by video conference.
- Nearly half believe the business could save a lot of money by using video conferencing.
- Four in 10 reported late arrival for an average of 2.5 meetings for the year because of travel-related delays.
- Executives spent an average of 13 days out of the office in 2010 taking short-haul flights.
- A quarter of the executives interviewed reported feeling stressed by plane travel.
- One in 10 said they had missed a wedding anniversary, and an equal proportion reported missing a child?s birthday.
Weisbeck concedes that face-to-face meetings will always play a part in our business life, just like they do in our personal life. ?You will travel to have that meeting, to have that handshake and that dinner to close the deal, or introduce yourself.?
But telepresence, for him, is ?the ability to have a meeting-type environment in which you can make decisions quickly, understand the environment and the people you?re communicating with as if you were in that room.? Once clients have tried and tested it, says Weisbeck, they quickly see the benefits.
Screening each other
Non-verbal communication is profoundly important, especially with first impressions (just how important a part of total communication is much debated), but can a screen ? no matter how large and high-definition it is ? replace our highly evolved and semi-unconscious assessment of another human being in all their shifty-eyed, sweaty palmed, jiggering-legged reality?
?Etiquette is a part of business communication,? says Weisbeck. ?In video you are much more transparent, and that makes the meeting more productive. You complete the meeting more quickly because you?re focused, paying attention.?
In a test suite at Polycom?s London HQ, I chatted with the firm?s employees in Slough through a gigantic telepresence screen. I could see and hear them perfectly, but I couldn?t feel or sense them. We were staring at each other but our gazes never completely met.
I couldn?t drag them off for a drink to see what they really thought about the world, off record.
Enriching the phone call
With or without video, teleconferences already save companies lashings of travel time. Multinational employees on one side of the planet are regularly forced to set their alarm to talk to counterparts on the other. When I was based in Singapore, no dinner party went by unhindered; people would dart off into guest bedrooms to join a U.S.- or Europe-initiated call.
My hunch is that teleconferences will gradually incorporate video; surfing Facebook or painting one?s nails during a lengthy soliloquy by a senior partner in Atlanta will be harder to get away with in an audio-visual world.
Weisbeck agrees on this point: ?If you want to deploy a tele-worker environment, to allow your employees to work from home for part of the week, they?re most productive when their experiences are as if they were in the office, and you see that with video-collaboration, not when they?re just dialling in or on email.?
Polycom?s survey found that four in 10 companies have not yet implemented video conferencing. Weisbeck thinks that enterprise and the business to business environment is catching up to the desire and need to bring anyone from any device into a room or spontaneously have a meeting. ?One of things that we do is to provide the bridging infrastructure? allowing Skype and FaceTime to talk to Polycom, to talk to Cisco. The more people that are using video, the better it is for us, because it opens up that spectrum for video collaboration.?
Living the high life
Will employers start asking middle-management minions to lay off the long-haul and join more video calls? Polycom and other unified communication firms do have a strong argument: that it is non-productive to travel, be it by private jet or high-speed train, for a regular meeting that could just as easily happen on a video call.
Add carbon footprints to the mix and it becomes harder to disagree with their proposition. But, scrap the trip, even the routine one, and you may miss out on something serendipitous: that informal, after-hours jolly when a new plan of action is dreamt up; that chance conversation with a stranger in a hotel bar which blooms into a beautiful new business relationship; that paradigm-shifting bolt of inspiration that strikes in an executive lounge or aircraft cabin. Sometimes you need to take yourself out of your workaday comfort zone to appreciate the big picture.
Where there is one survey, there is always another to counteract it. On July 8, a ?Business Traveler Market Segmentation Study? produced by the Global Business Travel Association Foundation (GBTA) found that the majority of U.S. business travellers report that there is no substitute for being there in person (78%), and enjoy travelling for work (78%). A total of 801 travellers, who have taken at least four business trips in the last year, responded to the survey. I?ll be looking at it in more depth in a later column.
Interestingly, the Polycom study points to the French and the Russians finding work travel particularly stressful. Is this a European thing? I quizzed a jet-setting British Blackstone executive on the matter of travel as a source of aggravation; he told me that though he finds the constant agenda-juggling side of his schedule quite stressful, a palpable sense of freedom is brought to his life through his travels. He also appreciates the luxury of premier-class air travel and top-end hotels, and sees this as an affirmation of career success.
The spreadsheets may force travellers off the road, but bottom lines will be affected if we can?t meet and greet in the real-time real world.

"Good Neighbors" is less than thrilling (Reuters)
LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) ? Movies from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Lodger" to Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" have succeeded in finding the creepier side of apartment living. While the new Canadian import "Good Neighbors" aims for that level of tension, it winds up being the new tenant who seems nice enough on moving day but very quickly gets on your nerves.
There's enough creepy tension and nefarious deeds afoot to make for a really suspenseful short film, but even at just 96 minutes, "Neighbors" outstays its welcome.
On the eve of the Quebecois secession vote in 1995, Victor (Jay Baruchel) moves into a Montreal apartment building where longtime residents Spencer (Scott Speedman) and Louise (Emily Hampshire) are close chums who exchange daily bits of gossip about the serial killer who's been stalking young women in the neighborhood.
It's hard to tell at first whether or not their relationship is platonic, particularly since the wheelchair-bound Spencer tends to keep to himself. Soon enough, we come to realize that none of these three are exactly who we thought at the beginning of the movie, and as their initially-friendly inter-relationships escalate, the danger and the suspense do. too.
And on paper, that's great - the script by director Jacob Tierney (based on Christine Brouillet's novel "Ch?re voisine") quickly dispenses of an easily predicted twist so as to catch you off-guard with subsequent ones you didn't see coming. He also capably directs his trio of leads (I've never seen Hampshire before, but she has a charmingly Ally Sheedy-ish vibe) even as the characters keep upping the ante with new and previously unrevealed secret sides.
That's actually where "Good Neighbors" falls apart: The more we get to know these tenants, the more awful and misanthropic they become, which makes it hard to give a damn which one of them comes out unscathed. Not that all characters have to be "appealing," but when the prospect of a building collapse that leaves them all buried in rubble (spoiler: this doesn't happen) leaves you unmoved, that's a script flaw.
"The Roommate," lame as it was, at least threw a cat in a dryer. All the creepy business here is so restrained and, well, politely Canadian, that not even lower-48 audience draws like Speedman and Baruchel can keep the proceedings as lively as they should be.
Granted, I don't know my current Canadian history well enough to understand why the Quebec referendum plays so significantly into the plot, or if it's intended as some kind of metaphor, but that's something that Tierney added to the story, since the original novel was set in 1982.
"Good Neighbors" starts out with promise and flash, but eventually gets bogged down into routine-thriller territory. It's a potluck you'll want to sneak out of early to go back to the comfort of your own room.

BP Q2 earnings below forecast at $5.3 billion (AP)
LONDON ? BP PLC on Tuesday reported lower than expected earnings for the second quarter as it struggled to lift production in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
Although the actual costs of the spill diminished, the fallout from the disaster continued to weigh on output, down 11 percent from pre-spill levels. The company said the damage to its reputation could have a long-lasting impact on its prospects.
BP reported a net profit of $5.6 billion for the three months ending June 30, compared with a loss of $17.2 billion a year earlier.
Replacement cost profit, a closely watched industry benchmark, was $5.3 billion compared with a loss of $17 billion a year earlier. The second quarter result was lower than the average analyst forecast of about $6 billion.
Last year's earnings were hit by a $32 billion charge for responding to the Gulf of Mexico crisis.
The lower-than-expected profit hit BP's shares. They were trading 2.5 percent lower at 463.45 pence ($7.58) as trading opened on the London Stock Exchange.
"In our opinion the key factor for investor sentiment is the long-term actions to restore the lost shareholder value," said Tony Shepard, analyst at Charles Stanley & Co. He said investors are waiting for an update on the company's strategy following the collapse of its Arctic exploration deal with Russia's Rosneft.
Richard Griffith, analyst at Evolution Securities, said BP's recovery was on track and affirmed a "buy" rating on the shares.
BP said it has so far paid $6.8 billion for economic and environmental restoration in the Gulf of Mexico, including $5.1 billion from a $20 billion trust fund to settle individual claims.
In the second quarter, payments from the trust fund totaled $2.1 billion, including $873 million to individual and business claimants.
The company said the majority of the cleanup on the U.S. Gulf coast was completed in the first three months of the year, while "limited" work continued on marshes and barrier islands. No further work is planned on the seabed, BP said.
The company acknowledged that "the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has damaged BP's reputation, which may have a long-term impact on the group's ability to access new opportunities, both in the U.S. and elsewhere."
In the short-term, the disaster has had a clear impact on BP's production levels.
During the second quarter, its oil and gas production was 3.43 million barrels of oil equivalent a day, down 11 percent from a year earlier, BP said that primarily reflected "the ongoing impacts to Gulf of Mexico production as a result of the suspension of drilling, and the continuing divestment program."
Full-year production is expected to remain close to that level, BP said.
Chief Executive Bob Dudley was upbeat about the company's prospects, saying he expects future cash flows to grow faster than output.
"We expect the momentum of our recovery to build into 2012 and 2013 as new projects come on stream, particularly in higher-margin areas; as we complete current turnaround activity; as we return to work in the Gulf of Mexico; and as uncertainties reduce," Dudley said.
Dudley added that 2011 had been "an unusually good year" for gaining access to resources, with new tracts awarded in Australia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, the South China Sea and Trinidad.

Small Business Marketing Book Review ? part of the critical point, three two
Of Craig Lutz Priefert
This article will continue our three-part review of Malcolm Gladwell?s tipping point. Gladwell was a reporter rather than a large company or small business owners marketing. He can provide small business marketing? A lot. He wrote a book, is a willing to open their minds enough to see how a small case study about the human condition within the marketing concept of the catalyst, all of our markets, regardless of our industry.
The viscosity is the second Gladwell?s three major power, may lead to a critical point. For small business owners, the news is how sticky you can make all the difference in your marketingGladwell investigate two different TV shows ? Sesame Street and Blue clues ? and how each create the environment, youth may show rivets, which is actually to help them learn things from television. Gladwell?s review of these two programs, with a few very relevant marketing lessons for small businesses.
First, the introduction of characters or a story to tell stories of times the length of time or number of little change or difference in how the show was held the child?s attention. The same lessons can be applied to small businesses. Sometimes, it is only presented to our business customers, our customers can have a top level.
In their eyes, a book from this part of the second lesson is the power of narrative (a huge impact on the slightest change in p. 118). Gladwell involved in a study a year-old child to learn how to use the story. In fact, teaching children to tell their own stories on their own. There is an incredibly powerful example of where marketing for small businesses. Imagine: your customer throughout their development life of the sense of the world, by telling their own stories to explain the world around them small business owners the lesson is: the supply and description of your customers. Do not load their features and benefits, but go one step further, providing them with a story that shows you how the product or service will work for them (easier said than done, we know that if you want a fantastic The story of the book to build their own brands, Lawrence Vincent legendary brand.) In this section also, Gladwell describes a well-known distributors, Lester Wunderman, how to use a very simple interactive advertising devices head-to-head competition, beating other institutions. This is a fascinating anecdotes, small business marketing can take heart ? the big money does not always overcome the clever marketing , we again urge you to read the detonation Pointwith highlighter and pen at the edge. Its style is attractive enough, it allows us to think, ?Yes, our company is such,? or ?This will work for us!? Moody's cuts Greece debt rating three notches to Ca (Reuters)
SYDNEY (Reuters) ? Ratings agency Moody's has cut Greece's debt ratings by three notches to Ca on Monday, leaving it just one notch above what is considered default, and said the chance of a default is now "virtually 100 percent."
The rating agency warned that last week's bailout package agreed by euro zone leaders will make it easier for Greece to reduce its debt, but the country still faced medium-term solvency challenges and significant implementation risks.
"The announced EU program along with the Institute of International Finance's statement implies that the probability of a distressed exchange, and hence a default, on Greek government bonds is virtually 100 percent," the agency said in a statement.
"(Greece's) stock of debt will still be well in excess of 100 percent of GDP for many years and it will still face very significant implementation risks to fiscal and economic reform," it added.
The ratings agency is wary that the euro zone bailout package sets a negative precedent for investors on future restructuring.
"The support package sets a precedent for future restructurings should the finances of another euro area sovereign become as problematic as those of Greece," Moody's said.
According to the ratings agency obligations rated Ca are highly speculative and are likely in, or very near, default, with some prospect of recovery of principal and interest.
The outlook is developing.
Standard & Poor's and Fitch have already downgraded Greece to CCC, one notch above Moody's.

Is Happiness A Choice? | Freefall Self Improvement
Fascinates the hell out of me the amount of people who say when asked ?What do you want in life? and the standard response usually is ?I want to be happy?.
But what does that really mean?? Happiness is relative.
I have mentioned before in previous blogs that the 3 hardest things to get out of people are:-
- What do you want?
- What are you motivated by?
- What are you committed to?
If you can answer these 3 questions I think you have half the game won in life.
I decided to write about this topic today because in the field of coaching, you can imagine the amount of people who proclaim that their life and or business is not where they want it to be, but what you perceive is not working usually is working alright. The area?s which you say are not working are actually where the answers lie.
What Do I Mean By This?
If we are to agree that we are the creators of our reality then our life reflects how we think.? If it is not how we would like it to be, then one would think one would need to create it differently.? I believe happiness is not elusive, it is a choice.? If you are not happy with your lot then this is because you are not choosing it to be.? Life will ALWAYS present different circumstances and we will forever oscillate between FEELING good one minute or bad the next based on the next set of circumstances.? What if I said your state is not reliant on circumstances shifting.? What would you say?? It seems to be that people live life at consequence to circumstance and as a result experience life in a constant state of oscillation.? If you wish to experience living in an empowered state all the time ? and yes this is possible then this is a function of raising ones awareness that this is in fact possible.
So How Do You Access This Level Of Awareness?
We live in two realms of consciousness ? lower level consciousness and higher level consciousness.? When we live at the lower level we are living in what I would term the realm of ?meaning?.? All suffering for example stems from what we make things mean.? FACT -? When we live at a higher level of consciousness we have learnt that we can be an observer of all that is, with no added meaning and experience what some term ?equanimity?, the ability to remain undisturbed in the face of good or ill fortune ? can?t be good or ill unless we make it mean that!
In my line of work I teach human awareness to people who aren?t aware wondering why they are not getting it, for unless they taste it, touch it, feel it, experience it, they don?t know they want it or need it ? try and package that one up and sell it!!!
It saddens me that it usually takes an adverse experience for people in general to shift their consciousness ? they are almost forced to find another way versus willingly choosing to explore, unearth, uncover, news ways of operating.
Benefits of Living At A Higher Level Of Consciousness
Rather than wait for an adverse experience to shift you into living life in a more aware state, one can choose to be in the inquiry ongoingly.? But we would have to build a big enough self interest to be in that inquiry.? What are some of the benefits of living at a higher level of consciousness/awareness?? You have the ability to:
- Know what it happening, all the time
- Maintain, sustain an empowered way of life rather than oscillating between
feeling empowered one minute and disempowered the next - Not be impacted by external circumstances
- Realize the higher meaning of what is being experienced
- Not be triggered as much by what life throws at you
- Live in the realm of equanimity and that folks is truly priceless
- Laugh more and not be so serious, significant and dramatic
- Experience more peace and tranquility, life is less dramatic
- Evolve in your potential to ?pay it forward? which from my perspective is our collective responsibility as a fellow traveler on this planet
- Be happy because you realize that it is in fact just a choice
Regardless of where you operate, we all have the potential to evolve to new levels of awareness.? If you are called to inquire more into what could be possible in your own life then you may wish to consider joining us on our next Freefall Seminar for our education is solely focused on what we term ?Awareness Based Training?, the more aware we are, the more wisdom we can access ? leave you in the inquiry

US beats rival Japan for softball World Cup title ? Artesia News
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) ? Taylor Hoagland hit a two-run home run, Valerie Arioto and Megan Langenfeld had RBI singles and the United States beat rival Japan 6-4 Monday night to win its fifth straight World Cup of Softball championship.
Jordan Taylor (1-0) retired the first eight batters she faced and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, never letting the Americans fall behind after they grabbed a 2-0 lead without needing a hit in the first inning.
The U.S. got even for a 7-0 loss in the championship game of the Canada Cup earlier this month in the latest matchup between the sport?s two powerhouses.
The Americans won the first three Olympic gold medals and have won the past seven world championships, but Japan holds the gold medal from the 2008 Olympics.
The teams have met in the finals in five of the six World Cups, with the U.S. winning four times.
Hoagland?s two-run blast that made it 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth proved crucial when Michelle Moultrie dropped Eri Yamada?s two-out fly to deep left in the seventh. Two runs scored and Yamada reached third, but Misa Okubo popped up a bunt try to Keilani Ricketts to end the game.
Ricketts, who got the final two outs, earned the save.
Much of the star power was missing in this World Cup, with no Olympic veterans on the U.S. roster as the sport won?t be played on that stage until at least 2020 ? if then. Several stars have retired since the 2008 games, and others decided to play pro ball instead of continuing on Team USA.
The Japanese were without injured ace Yukiko Ueno, a nemesis for the U.S. with wins including the 2008 gold medal game, the 2005 World Cup title game and a three-hit shutout in Canada earlier this month.
Makiko Fujiwara (1-2) started in her place and walked four straight batters in the first before Brittany Schutte?s sacrifice fly put the U.S. up 2-0.
Taylor, who struck out the only four Japanese batters she faced on Saturday night, retired the first eight in order before Yumi Iwabuchi reached on Jenae Leles? throwing error with two outs in the third. Leles fielded Iwabuchi?s grounder about halfway down the third-base line, but Valerie Arioto couldn?t scoop her throw in the dirt at first.
Schutte then threw out Iwamuchi trying to steal second.
When the Japanese finally got their first hit, it proved to be a costly one. After Japan got within 3-1 on Rie Nagayoshi?s RBI groundout in the fifth, Haruka Kageyama was credited with a single when her grounder hit Mika Suzuki as she ran down the third base line.
Japan coach Reika Utsugi protested, and then returned to home plate umpire Traci Stoelting to motion for her to look at a replay, to no avail. Kazuki Watanabe, the next hitter, followed with an infield single to the hole at shortstop.
The U.S. caught a break in the third when Kaitlin Cochran appeared to be out at third on a triple to the gap in right, just before Arioto?s RBI single to right. Langenfeld had a pinch-hit single to bump the lead to 4-1 in the fifth.
Japan?s other run scored on Hoagland?s throwing error in the sixth.

Rent vs. Buy -Maury Loomis Orange County Real Estate / Finance Guide!
I am seeing so many GREAT Deals in Orange County!
So, I thought it would be smart to brush up on the Rent vs. Buy criteria.
Let?s Review the Top 3 Ways Buying vs. Renting in Orange County Saves You Money:
1.? Lower Payment ? This year California housing market conditions make a strong and compelling case for homeownership. With prices still well below the historic highs of just a few years ago and attractive mortgage rates, qualified buyers have a unique opportunity to own their own home. As seen below, a rigorous analysis of renting versus buying hears this conclusion out. As shown in the following chart, the monthly housing costs (principle, interest, taxes, and insurance or PITI) associated with buying a median-priced home of $301,430 is $1,590 (Fourth Quarter 2010 median priced home in California).? This assumes the buyer is making a 20 percent downpayment and financing with a 30-year fixed rate mortgage at 4.62 percent. In comparison, the median rent on a three-bedroom two-bath apartment with renter?s insurance in California is $1,810. That means buying a home would save the homeowner $220 per month when compared to renting and the homeowner would save over $2,600 a year.

2. TAX Savings through Ownership Deductions:? In addition, existing tax laws allow homeowners to itemize and deduct the mortgage interest and property taxes from their taxable income. For example, compare the tax implications for two households both earning $63,430 a year, the minimum income required to purchase the statewide median-priced home of $301,430.* The household that purchases the home with a 20 percent downpayment and finances the mortgage at the current rate of 4.62 percent will receive a tax deduction of over $14,000 in the first year of ownership. The renter household will most likely utilize the IRS Standard deduction of $11,400, $2,600 less than their homeowner counterparts. The homebuyer reduces their total tax liability by $400 compared to the renter in the first year of ownership. Accounting for the out-of-pocket savings as well as the tax savings, the homebuyer saves over $3,000 in their first year of ownership.
click on graph for larger view
3, Mortgage Rates May Rise and Increase Payment: The mortgage rate is a significant factor in determining just how much a homebuyer can afford. Today?s low mortgage rate environment tips the scale?for some?in favor of buying versus renting. For a home priced at $400,000, with a 20 percent downpayment and a 4 percent mortgage rate, the monthly PITI will be $1,990 for the homebuyer. The monthly PITI jumps to $2,180 at 5 percent and to $2,380 at 6 percent. For each one percentage point increase in the mortgage rate, the payment goes up by almost $200 under these assumptions. Even for a lower priced home at $200,000, the difference in the monthly payment is significant as each percentage point rise in the mortgage rate tacks on $100 to the monthly PITI.
click on graph for larger view
Many Other Benefits of Home Ownership: Of course, there are many other socioeconomic benefits that homeownership brings to communities. And there are other costs associated with homeownership above and beyond the downpayment and monthly PITI. So as long as one has considered all of the costs and benefits of owning a home and is in the financial position to do so, there are some pretty compelling reasons to strive for the ?American Dream.?

*Assumptions:
1. Underlying assumptions for the Mortgage Interest Deduction and Property Tax (1 percent of the purchase price) deduction are based on the Traditional HAI Q4-2010 assumptions of: The prevailing median price in the 4th quarter 2010 (Median Price $301,430), effective FRM interest rate of 4.62%, a 20% downpayment, and a $241,144 loan amount.
2. Incomes are based on the underlying assumptions for the Traditional HAI. The same income is used for both Renters and Buyers and is assumed to be the Minimum Qualifying Income needed to purchase a median priced home in the 4th quarter 2010.
3. Tax rate based on 2010 IRS Schedule Y-1 Married Filing Jointly in 15% tax bracket (latest available from the IRS) assuming no changes over the 5 year horizon
4. Interest deduction based on the Traditional HAI Q4-2010 underlying effective FRM interest rate
of 4.62%, a 20% downpayment, and a $241,144 loan amount.
5. Property taxes are assumed to be constant over this 5 year analysis, thereby assuming the underlying market value remains unchanged. If the home value were to increase, under Proposition 13, the property tax assessment would increase at a rate of 2 percent per year. Along these same lines, income is also assumed to be constant over this 5 year analysis in order to keep the analysis simple and determine the basic 5 -year tax benefit of buying a home in 2010.
