August 31, 2012 at 4:00 PM ET [Digital Girl] - Singer-songwriter and SESAC Latina affiliate Jencarlos Canela-one of the most promising young stars in the Latin music industry-announced he signed this week with Universal Music Latin Entertainment, the world's premiere Latin music entertainment company.
Canela, who joined SESAC Latina in 2011 for representation of his performing rights worldwide, emerged as a true phenomenon thanks to his amazing solo compositions and highly-praised collaborations with an A-list of top Latin talents. Many of Canela's major hits were also performed and recorded by such acts as Pitbull, Chino & Nacho, Jos? Feliciano, Gilberto Santa Rosa, El Cata and Banda Los Recoditos, among others.
One of the most versatile and talented Latin artists today, Canela's astonishing proficiency performing in diverse genres earned him the opportunity to collaborate with Pitbull in the hit single "Tu Cuerpo" and to record "Sue?a", one of the commemorative songs of the 2012 Olympics in London. The tune, which was produced by the renowned Emilio Estefan, confirmed him as one of the fastest rising stars in Latin music.
Jencarlos Canela is finalizing details to kick-off the recording process for his much anticipated third studio album, which will be released by Universal Music early 2013 featuring own compositions and remarkable collaborations. One such example is the song he co-wrote with Samo, lead singer of Mexican pop band Camila. The new album is a follow up to "Un Nuevo Dia" (2011) which reached the top of the charts in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The young Latin star began his musical career at age 12 as the lead singer of the group "Boom Boom Pop" and graduated with honors from the prestigious academy The New World School of Arts in 2006. His debut album, "Buscame", debuted #1 on the Latin album sales chart and was certified Gold only a few weeks after its release. "Buscame" also set a record as the highest charting Latin debut album ever on an independent label in the history of the Billboard charts. Jencarlos has also been honored with the Premio Lo Nuestro award for "Best New Artist" and was named "Best Young Actor" by the prestigious FAMA award, presented by the magazine of the same name, and the Estrella Awards.
