Role and Responsibilities:

The Finance Coordinator?s primary responsibility is to provide support for IDG Division budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. The position will assist in monitoring internal controls and assessing effectiveness. This position reports to the IDG Associate Director of Finance and Administration and collaborates routinely with project coordinators and other URC department staff. The position supports health projects in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the division with ensuring that all projects are complying with internal financial controls.
  • Assist Project Coordinators with review and verification of field financial reports, including verification of financial certifications and ensuring that supporting documentation is received for all transactions.
  • Review travel advance reports monthly and report on timely reconciliation.
  • Assist with preparation of financial reports and analyses of division contracts in collaboration with project coordinators.
  • Assist with tracking expenditures against obligations or fixed price amounts, and with reviewing and troubleshooting of project-level financial tracking spreadsheets.
  • Update tracking tools for division direct and indirect expenditures on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with maintenance of annual operating budgets for IDG.
  • Prepare financial status reports as requested.
  • Participate in project financial check-in meetings and prepare status reports following each meeting.
  • Assist with proposal development and provide support other ad-hoc projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Note: You must currently be eligible to work legally and on a long-term basis in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

  • Bachelor?s degree in accounting required.
  • Experience with accounting, finance, project costing, budget preparation, or other financial management for international donor-funded projects is desirable.
  • Prior experience working in developing countries is preferred.
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively with others.? Able to work independently in a fast-paced organization by prioritizing and managing multiple assignments. Strong attention to detail and follow-through required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external clients.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required. Ability to communicate in French, Spanish, Portuguese and/or Arabic is preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally at about 20%.
