The Germans led 3-2 after the first quarter, the score was tied 6-6 at the half and the Germans we back up 8-7 after three quarters.
With the Germans up 9-8 late in the fourth, the Canadians went on the power play but could not muster a single shot on goal.
The Canadians were three-for-11 with the man advantage while the Germans were an impressive six-for-nine.
In Saturday's other match, Hungary defeated Italy, the reigning world champions, 11-8.
The Hungarians and Germans are 2-0.
Hungary faces Germany ? both 2-0 ? for the gold.
Hungary and Italy have already qualified for the 2012 London Olympics. Germany is preparing for its Olympic qualifier which will be at the European Championships set to start in the Netherlands later this month.
The Canadian men, ranked 10th in the world, will host their Olympic qualifying tournament, April 1-8 in Edmonton.
