The world is aware of Indias richness, the land resource with the right conditions of trade and investments. The real estate is looking forward to a boom, witnessing 30 per cent growth already. It contributes to the nations GDP as the second largest employer and is expected to grow into a $100 billion market this decade. However, are we just basking in the glory of the past and not looking ahead? It is the time for some reality check.

Title insurance can fill these chasms to position India globally. If we look at the trends in the past decade, many investors have returned without opening the doors of opportunities for us. We are deficient of a structure that would allow the parties in real estate transactions to execute sale or purchase more freely. Lets look at the past decade and relate why title insurance can reinstate the lost glory of real estate in India.

Commercial, residential and rural real estate

The burgeoning IT/ITES sectors led to demand for office spaces and commercial establishments. The metros have flourished with a proportional demand for residential property too. Real estate in India is predominantly commercial and residential property in terms of land and buildings. There is little emphasis on the rural landscape that has low rates and appreciation in rates compared to cities or townships.

The inflow of foreign investments is slow, not at a pace that can position Indias real estate in a competitive position compared to the rest of the world. It is not only NRIs but also foreign investors who do not want to test the waters in Indias real estate. One can think of six reasons that encumber funds flowing into India:

* Greater lag in legal decisions relating to property litigations

* History of instances of fraud and manipulation in property transactions

* No or poor assurance from the sellers, real estate players or builders

* Rent or lease is a better option than purchase

* Dispersed infrastructural facilities

* Lack of title insurance system

Rich dad, poor son!

Over six decades of republic status, land records are maintained as heritage with no updates or the ownership trail. Often, property records have kept the buyers ambiguous and question the legal ownership at the time of buying. There is an obscure, complex and time-consuming process of establishing a clear title. The US, Australia, UK and Singapore are considered to be much transparent markets due to the availability of title insurance.

The Indian Transfer of Property Act and Indian Registration Act are on the verge of amendments to suit the need of changing times. The emphasis now is on the poor son who cannot inherit his dads rich heritage, all due to poor land record system.

Chelsea Handler Admits Having Abortion at 16, Slams Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant

Lots of people are not fans of the Teen Mom phenomenon. Add Chelsea Handler to that list, and for some surprisingly personal reasons, she revealed.

The E! star described her own personal ordeal with teen pregnancy and the choice that changed her life in an interview with the New York Times.

“We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment," she says.

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta and some of these other shows are just racist. Or 16 and Pregnant. Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”

Chelsea Handler knows this situation personally, confessing that she was a pregnant teen who exercised her right to choose, which she's grateful she has.

“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states. “Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid."

"Those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about.”

You have to hand it to the Handler. She does not mince words and is not shy about who she is, even if that means a lot of people won't like what she is.

German Distributors Report Cannes Buying Spree

COLOGNE, Germany ? Europe?s biggest theatrical market bounced back, and how, this year as German distributors big and small went on a feeding frenzy, snatching up almost every available big name title on offer at the Cannes film market.

StudioCanal subsidiary Kinowelt set its stake to be one of Germany?s leading independents with the multi-million dollar deal for FilmNation?s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins as well as action thriller Vehicle 19 starring Paul Walker from German/U.K. outfit K5. Kinowelt also picked Martin Scorsese?s George Harrison biopic Living in a Material World from Exclusive and thriller The Last Photograph from director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) which has Christian Bale and Sean Penn in talks to star. Photograph is a co-production between StudioCanal and Joel Silver?s Dark Castle.

?The big projects are finally back and sellers are putting more emphasis on the quality of the screenplays,? said Kinowelt CEO Wolfgang Braun. ?When the package together with actors and directors is right, we go for it.?

But it was Constantin, which last year lost its long-held title as Germany?s number one indie, which really pulled out the checkbook. In addition to Sierra/Affinity?s big budget sci-fi feature Ender?s Game and Jason Statham?s action vehicle Parker, Constantin loaded up on 3D titles, snatching IM Global?s Enchanted Kingdom 3D and Hurricane 3D as well as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D from Nu Image. Few last year expected Berlin-based Senator to even be around for Cannes 2011 but the box office success of The King?s Speech gave the financially-strapped distributor some breathing room. More could come from last week?s announcement that Dutch investment group Sapinda Holding, run by German investor Lars Windhorst, has obtained an option to acquire 21.2 percent of the company by Dec. 20. The option would include the 17 percent of Senator held by company CEO Helge Sasse.

Senator was back to its big buying ways in Cannes. It secured theatrical rights to two high-profile titles bought by Telepool for Germany: Lakeshore?s surfer film Mavericks directed by Curtis Hanson and starring Gerard Butler and Mike Newell?s Charles Dickens adaptation Great Expectations with Jeremy Irvine, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

Senator also grabbed Tanya Wexler's Victorian romantic comedy Hysteria, starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaal; French comedy Intouchables and Cannes Festival closer Beloved from Christophe Honore for the German market.

Wild Bunch Germany has an ongoing cooperation with Senator ? they jointly control indie distribution operation Central Film. But that didn?t stop Wild Bunch from outbidding Senator and all other German competitors for one of the hottest titles at the Cannes market: the Meryl Streep/Tommy Lee Jones marriage counsel dramedy Great Hope Springs from Lionsgate International. David Frankel is on board to direct with Steve Carell attached to play the marriage counselor. Wild Bunch also secured German rights in Cannes to Dixie Theatrical?s revenge thriller Julia X 3D starring Valerie Azlynn, Kevin Sorbo and Ving Rhames.

Veteran art house distrib Prokino also had a busy Cannes, picking up Nanni Moretti?s Vatican satire We Have a Pope from Fandango Portobello Sales; Lasse Hallstrom?s Swedish thriller The Hypnotist starring Mikael Persbrandt (In A Better World) from Svensk and Persepolis director Marjane Satrapi?s hotly anticipated follow up:
Chicken With Plums starring Isabella Rossellini, Mathieu Amalric, and Chiara Mastroianni from sales outfit Celluloid Dreams.

On the smaller side, Pandastorm Pictures grabbed all German and Austrian rights for Director Fortnight crowd-pleaser The Fairy from MK2 and German language rights from Intandem Films for the British espionage thriller The Veteran. Pandastorm also took Finnish comedy Lapland Odyssey from Yellow Affair and biotech thriller Errors Of The Human Body from Instinctive Film.

Berlin-based Delphi, another distributor enjoying a new lease on life thanks to white knight investors, snatched up two high profile French titles in Cannes: the audience pleaser The Artist, which won director/star Michel Hazanavicius Cannes? Best Actor prize and Wild Bunch?s remake of 60s comedy classic The War of the Buttons.

Other German buys in Cannes include James Wan?s supernatural thriller Specter which has Nicole Kidman attached to star and which Koch has picked up for German release from IM Global; Pathe?s No One Lives from director Ryuhei Kitamura and Olivier Baroux?s The Tuche Family which went to Munich-based Tiberius and Icelandic teen drama Jitters from director Baldvin Zopboniasson, which Salzgeber will bow in Germany.

American Idol Recap: Did Haley Reinhart Just Fall Into the Finals?

What a week it's been Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart.

From the adulatory hometown visits that await the Top Three to every year, to the surely butterfly-inducing time spent with mentor Beyonc?, how did they find the energy to perform three songs apiece?!

But of course they did, and it was a bright and shining night for all of them, despite a few bumps?or, in this case, thumps?in the road.

Whether you like the kid or not, you've got to admit his voice belies his 17 years and is as radio-ready as anything we've heard on Idol in ages. Randy Jackson even commented that Scott was "approaching Garth territory." (And we'll assume he means Brooks, and not the Dana Carvey character.)

For round three, the judges tasked Scotty with Kenny Rogers' "She Believes in Me," a major song with a major chorus. The teen rose to new heights in their eyes, and it looked already like round three was going to go to the country boy.

Lauren's tunes ran the gamut, from the spunky "She's a Wild One"?thumbs up for her Faith Hill impression, thumbs down for whoever picked out those white boots and huge white earrings?to the heartstring-tugging "If I Die Young," by the Band Perry, which was Jimmy's pick.

Jennifer Lopez heard a few iffy notes, but?true to the spirit of this entire Idol season?she attributed it to the 16-year-old getting "caught up in the honesty" of the song. (Or, Lauren was still flustered from her pantyhose ripping offstage, which required a last-minute shimmer job on her naked legs from the makeup artist.)

Lauren hit her stride, in our opinion, in round three with Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance," which seemed tailor-made for the 16-year-old, who looked particularly stunning in a sequined aqua gown.

"I dare to say you won that round for me already," confessed J.Lo.

Now, that Haley's got spunk!

Even Beyonc? needed a bleep when talking about the ballsy 20-year-old's decision to sing/howl/growl Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be."

With her dad sitting in on the bass (definitely an Idol first), Haley totally rocked, even when taking into consideration the stumble (physical, not vocal) that caused her to miss a few words.

At least none of the judges picked on her for choosing a non-Top 40 song this time! In fact, they all applauded Haley's fierceness and told her she was doing exactly what she needed to do to win the whole thing.

Her first was admittedly better than her second, when she took on Stevie Nicks' "Rhiannon," a subtly beautiful classic that is really hard to replicate properly.

"Why were you looking up, like, 'Thank god I got through that'?" Randy asked, laughing. "That was like the worst, to be honest with you," a relieved and hoarse-sounding Haley replied, also laughing it out.

In round three, the judges gave Haley the angry, shouting song of the '90s, Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know," and she duly busted a gut singing it.

It was after each contestant had sung their first song when we realized that, for the first time, no one was going to declare a winner at the end of each round, the way Simon Cowell always did. Ryan Seacrest noticed too, of course, so did the honors of asking the judges their opinion.

Round one went to Haley all the way. J.Lo and Randy were on Team Scotty in round two, while Steven Tyler preferred Lauren's performance. Jennifer and Randy then went with Lauren in round three, and Steven had nothing but love for his rocker girl Haley.

Might we have an all-girl finale, the first since 2004, coming our way? Who, as Randy would say, is really in it to win it?! The finale line-up will be set tomorrow night, when one of these hopefuls is sent home. We can't bear to watch...but we will!

Orbitz Backs Fox News Channel Amid Media Matters' 'Smear Campaign'

Media Matters is gearing up to target a half-dozen of the Fox News Channel's advertisers -- Netflix possibly being one of them -- though Orbitz Worldwide on Thursday stuck up for the nation's top cable news outlet.

Orbitz, which is the first target of a campaign launched at DropFox.com -- a new website from the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters -- on Thursday also accused Media Matters of a "smear campaign."

DropFox's goal is to pressure advertisers into either pulling their ads from Fox News or forcing Fox to alter its usually conservative messages. DropFox focused on Orbitz first because among its assets is a travel website dedicated to gays and lesbians, a community Fox News is antagonistic toward, according to DropFox.

There are six other companies DropFox has set its sights on: Netflix, Best Western, Priceline, Delta Airlines, Ocean Spray and Southwest Airlines. All of them advertise on Fox News, but not in order to make any sort of perceivable political point.

Fox News advertisers like Goldline International, therefore, are of little interest to DropFox because they target their ad buys to shows that attract a conservative audience.

While Netflix and the other five are listed alongside Orbitz at the DropFox website, Hogue said conversations with them are underway and she's not sure which one will be its focus after Orbitz.

A Netflix spokesman said he wasn't aware of any such discussions and declined to comment further. The other companies did not respond to requests for comment.

"Our goal is to make sure everyone who provides a platform for this politically tinged content is aware that that's what they're doing, and that there are consequences to that," said Hogue.

Media Matters employs 90 people who search for right-wing "misinformation" in the news, and their focus has increasingly been on Fox News. In 2008, about 33% of its research efforts were dedicated to Fox News, while nowadays it's 55%, and look for that to grow with the launch of DropFox.com.

In Orbitz, though, DropFox may have already bitten off more than it can chew. The company is not only refusing to buckle under the pressure -- which includes an online petition signed by 40,000 people asking it to ditch Fox News -- but it is striking back at Media Matters, warning the organization it is risking its credibility by attacking Orbitz.

"This is a political organization that has been funded pretty extensively to go after one network, and we aren't going to engage in that fight," Orbitz spokesman Brian Hoyt said.

"We have a strict policy of tolerance and non-discrimination, and that means we don't favor one political side over another. Tolerance is a two-way street," he said. "We're going to advertise on conservative TV stations, liberal TV stations and -- if there are any out there -- unbiased news broadcasts."

DropFox is basing its assertion that gays and lesbians are maligned at Fox News on several clips from The O'Reilly Factor and Bill O'Reilly's former radio show, as well as things Mike Huckabee has said before he became a host of his own TV show on Fox News.
