I used to fear public speaking to the extent that my legs will tremble whenever I stood in front of an audience. However, after realizing the importance of public speaking I decided to confront my fear.

Most people fear public speaking more than death! Do you believe it? Let me tell you the truth, it is a lie. Why? You will find out later but first let me tell you some benefits so that you will realize the importance of public speaking.

1) Public Speaking will build up your confidence.

Every time you allow fear to overwhelm you, your confidence level will drop. On the contrary, every time you face your fear, you gain more confidence. Do you want to be more confident? Well, you can take the first step by facing your fear of public speaking. You will not regret taking this first step.

2) Public speaking increases your income potential.

Do you know that public speaking is the most profitable skill in the world? A professional speaker can easily net million per year. You may not be a professional speaker but it is highly likely that you will be required to deliver presentations in your workplace. A presentation or a speech, depending on how well it is received, can make or break your career. This is the importance of public speaking.

3) Public speaking makes you more charismatic.

The confidence gained from public speaking will make you more charismatic. It enhances your ability to communicate with others which will attract more friends into your life. This allows you to increase your network. In fact, your network will determine how successful you will be.

4) Public speaking makes you a happier personWhen you start to overcome your fear, you will be proud of yourself. Gradually, you will start to enjoy public speaking and your skills will start to improve. With other benefits gained from public speaking, it will make you a happier person.

Verizon's already partnered with AT&T and T-Mobile on the Isis network, but it has fingers in another mobile payment pie -- the Wall Street Journal reports that the carrier's working with Payfone to let you put internet purchases right on your cell phone bill. Mind you, a previous partnership with BilltoMobile already did much the same thing, but Payfone should add more purchase possibilities and generally expand the potential offerings. Yes, perhaps direct carrier billing isn't quite as exciting as Google Wallet's brand of full-on NFC, but while you're waiting for the world to catch up with the latest in payment technology, it's something.

Review:

I got this book a few weeks back and have read it twice already. Robopocalypse is set in the near future where technology has increased rapidly and A.I has been created. The scary thing about this book is that it could very well be possible. I remember twenty years ago when only the extremely rich had mobile phones and they were huge and required the user to carry a battery the size of a car battery around with them. Computers ran off cassettes or large floppy disks with a storage capacity of less than what comes with a cheap mobile phone now. So to think that another twenty years will see technology leap forward to a level where computers are capably of thinking and reasoning for themselves is not unbelievable at all.

The story is told in by a couple of points of view, with quotes from the hero throughout at the start of each chapter. While 368 pages long, it was a very quick read, and I found myself wanting more. There were many scenes that I wanted to hear more about and characters that were so well developed that you really felt for them as they fought for their lives against a relentless foe.

I found myself comparing the first couple of chapters to the golden era of Stephen King writing with the scene in the store and the out of control robot straight out of the mind of this popular writer, both in style and prose. Wilson has also left the book open for a sequel with enough scope to make a trilogy, which is great because I?d love to see more of Wilson?s writing.

There is already so much publicity surrounding Robopocalypse, with Stephen Spielberg taking up the movie rights for the book.
